My story is pretty simple.
I am a bit of a “squirrel”, as my hubby calls me. I can’t seem to want to do the same thing twice.
You see…I grew up in a large, artistic, mid-western family, where you used your creativity to make everything.
I watched my mom and five sisters sew, cook and craft up a storm.
My world was full of paper dolls, fabric, color crayons and pancakes. We built forts, rode our bikes everywhere, played hide and seek tirelessly. Our garage was full of funky oddities and fifties twirly skirts. We dressed up and held puppet shows for the neighborhood. We baked cookies and cinnamon rolls and never realized we were missing anything.
When I had kids, I went straight into that fifties mode. Creating, baking, playing dress up and reading stories. We had lots tea parties and took walks by the creek.
And, between all the fun we had… I started to paint again. First, I painted my kids rooms like fairytale environments. Next, I began painting for friends. I went to workshops and trained all over the country for decorative finishes. I set up my business soon after and it boomed.
Unable to handle all the work, I hired helpers and artists. We painted and plastered and glazed walls, furniture and cabinets. I opened a shop.
Now, I am in that “empty nest” portion of my life and have grandkids to play with and spoil.
I am CRAZY about my family. And, I also LOVE to paint! So, I am currently spending my time between both worlds.
I have lots of family time. And time to travel.
I blog, teach classes and paint in my studio.
Thank you for joining me in my creative adventures!
